Pull of The Tide, Tailored Jacket

100% wool and hand dyed recycled denim, 2019

With this jacket, the goal was to challenge the idea of a classic tailored jacket by changing the shape and creating an “egg-like” silhouette. This idea is highlighted by color blocking and the addition of a pop fabric with the hand dyed denim against the herringbone wool. This piece was inspired by a wave coming in and crashing on the shore. The wave starts as a dark blue like the dark navy wool and crashes as a splotchy cream and white color like the dyed denim. Sustainability is also at the forefront of this look with the 100% natural wool and sourced denim from thrifted men’s denim jeans.

Fringe Mini Dress

Floral poly blend, satin, handmade fringe out of yarn, 2018

The goal of this look was to create an upscale mini dress with traditional elements but with a retro twist. This mini dress was primarily inspired by the floral fabric that the dress is made of with its rich colors and bold print. The closure in the front of the garment embraces the intimate detail of the navy satin covered buttons. For the sleeve detail, there are individually knotted maroon strands of yarn attached to two hand-knit rows of gray yarn to create the fringe look.

In the photos below, the patchwork jacket look was created by designer Julia Harrington.
